FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What are the requirements for employing seconded/foreign (non-EU) employees?

A basic requirement is that the company has at least one year of turnover.
The minimum declared turnover must be 60.000 euro per year. This requirement applies to all types of companies, from sole proprietorships to public limited companies (PLCs).

According to the current legislation to date

  1. Payment of a fee for each seconded/foreign employee, which amounts to (depending on the case):
    A) For employees who will be employed under a contract under dependent employment the fee is 200 €
    In this case, the contract is set for a minimum duration of 1 year, with the right to extend up to 5 years.
    B) For employees with an employment contract Seasonal is 100 €
    In this case, the contract is set for a maximum duration of 5 years, with the right to work 9 months per year.
  2. To pay a monthly salary that is at least equal to the minimum wage as defined in 830 €
    For employees in the agricultural sector, the daily wage is determined by agreement.

This depends on the contract you have concluded with the employee (Seasonal or Employment Contract).

A sole proprietorship cannot employ seconded/foreign employees if the owner is a foreign national.

From the moment you submit the file to the Regional Authority, the process takes approximately 3 months. It depends on the approval time of the Regional Authority and the Greek Embassy in Hanoi, Vietnam.
